Johannesburg: On Friday late afternoon, a group of armed Cash-in-Transit suspects rammed a Fidelity cash vehicle off the road in extension 2 Diepkloof, Soweto.
To gain access to the money, the suspects used explosives to bomb their way in the cash vehicle.
An unknown number of suspects fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.
According to an eyewitness, the suspects also fired multiple shots before and after the bombing. Although the incident took place right across a popular park where children normally gather, no children were injured.
After the suspects left the scene, community members contaminated the crime scene by helping themselves to some of the left-over cash.
In the following video a woman can be seen walking in a quiet neighbourhood street moments before she was brutally attacked by a criminal.
In a desperate attempt to raise alarm, the victim began to scream for help while hanging onto her handbag with all her might.
The robber then realised that the victim is not giving up without a fight - he physically assaulted her by choking her and hitting her in the face.
She then let go of the handbag - the robber grabs the bag and began making his way towards his 'escape route'.
SUDDENLY THE TABLES TURNED:
Suddenly the woman's screaming paid off - residents can be seen coming out of their houses to investigate what all the fuss is about.
As the (now desperate) attacker runs down the road, more and more residents emerge from their homes.
THE PERFECT TACKLE BY RESIDENT HERO:
A resident executed a perfect tackle on the criminal and ploughed him hard into the ground.
The criminal was apprehended by the community and handed over to SAPS moments later.
WELL DONE TO ALL ROLE PLAYERS!
